The Trapier Vineyard lies in the heart of Amador’s Shenandoah Valley, in the city of Plymouth, California. Planted in 1972, the site is own-rooted and has been farmed by Frank Moreno for two decades, an we love how his fruit always straddles the line between powerful and delicate. The vines average 40 years old, and thrive on the region’s signature dusty iron soils. Frank dry farms the 1.2 acres of vines himself and has worked with us to adopt cover-cropping and organic farming practices. We’ve worke with this site since our founding in 2016, and we love how this warm location always serves classic Old Vine Zin vibes.
Bright ruby in color, Perfect Disguise is vibrant and lively. Fresh strawberry and cherry cola aromas join forces with hints of ripe blackberry and plush raspberry. Medium-bodied with brisk acidity, the palate is all fresh red and purple fruit flavors that give way to notes of dried, candied cherry and hints of spice on the long, softly tannic finish.
