End of NoWhere Strange Currencies Nero DAvola
Bottle Size: 750 mL
Region: California
Medium Red Wines
Strange Currencies comes from the Fernow Ranch in Acampo, California. Here, at the northern edge of Lodi, the sandy alluvial soils provide excellent drainage for the vines while loads of sunshine ripen Mediterranean varieties like Nero d’Avola. The vineyard has been farmed organically since its inception, and we love the energy and dynamism these vines yield.
Our first edition of Strange Currencies and debut Nero d’Avola is inky-hued and delicious. Native to Sicily, this variety is known for balancing tannic power with vibrant, refreshing acidity - and Strange Currencies does just that: Opening with dusty, brambly cherry and plum notes, the wine is full and structured on the palate with notes of baking spice, turned earth, leather, and cigar tobacco. Chewy tannins, hints of citrus peel and spice linger on the long finish making this wine ideal for hearty comfort foods (or wood-fired pizza!)
