Thorne and Daughter Rocking Horse White Blend

Light White Wines
23% Roussanne – 22% Chenin Blanc - 21% Semillon Blanc – 17% Clairette Blanche –17% Chardonnay
The grapes were handpicked and fermented separately without inoculation in barrel. A bit of skin contact was employed on the Semillon and Clairette for intensity of flavor and aroma and all the ferments were on full solids. After nine months the wines are racked to a blending tank to settle where they are bottled with a small addition of sulfur.
It has a knockout bouquet of well-defined citrus peel, orange blossom, nutmeg, and light peppery scents. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity and quite saline in the mouth, and displays lovely viscosity toward a finish that feels full of tension. In a word: rocking.

Staff Review: Named after the rocking horse built from old wine barrels for their two daughters, artists John and Tasha's creativity didn't stop there. They've constructed a five-grape blend that is broad and rich, yet gentle and smooth. Bursting with robust herbs, citrus oils, and burnt sugar. A natural western cape white that is truly something special.
