Rich Red Wines
This juicy, dense Shiraz is from old vineyards in the Riebeek Kasteel / Paardeberg area that grow in rugged decomposed granite soils and some other bush vines west of Malmesbury in "Koffieklip" or "coffee stone" soils rich in iron oxide. The wine is dark and concentrated with powerful dark fruit, rich spice, some meaty notes and a ferrous complexity. Despite its obvious power and concentration the wine is vibrant and not at all clumsy, it possess effusive aromatics and striking balance on the palate. This wine really over-delivers for the price.
2014 Vintage Scores:
The 2014 Shiraz has a well defined bouquet, what you might call "cool" Shiraz with mint and fennel-tinged black fruit that is precise and focused. The palate is very nicely structured with a killer line of acidity that maintains precision and poise. It's not a fruit-driven, flamboyant Shiraz, more Cornas-like with a structured, grippy finish. This is excellent, as cerebral as it is pleasurable.

Staff Review:
This bold wine from South Africa is very easy drinking. Dark fruit flavors are balanced by a rich spice note with a smooth finish. -Melissa
